The language settings on your Android device are unaffected when you use Gboard to change languages. Install Gboard on your Android phone or tablet. Select the language you want to use by tapping it. Make your own keyboard layout. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. Select General. Keyboards can be tapped. Add or enable the layout you’d like to use.

Change your keyboard layout or other typing methods. When you add a language, it comes with a keyboard layout or input method so you can type in the language. You can add a new keyboard layout or swap between the ones you already have if you want to use a different one. Add a language’s keyboard layout or input method. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen and select Settings, then Change PC settings. (If you’re using a mouse, slide the mouse pointer up to the lower-right corner of the screen, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.) Then tap or click Time and language, followed by Region and language. To add a keyboard to a language, tap or click it, then tap or click Options. Toggle between tapping and clicking. Add a keyboard, then select the one you want from the input method list by tapping or clicking it. Toggle between different keyboard layouts and input modalities. You can switch between multiple keyboard layouts or input techniques to enter text. Switching between keyboard layouts or input methods can be done in a number of different ways: Press and hold the Windows logo key on a physical keyboard, then press the Spacebar to cycle through your input options. If you have a touchscreen, you can change the layout of your touch keyboard by tapping or clicking the keyboard icon, and then tapping or clicking the desired keyboard layout. Tap or click the language abbreviation in the notification area at the far right of the taskbar, then tap or click the keyboard layout or input method you want to switch to on the desktop taskbar.   Change the keyboard layout or input technique that is used by default. The keyboard layout or input method that comes standard with the language you view Windows in is your default keyboard layout or input method (for example, the QWERTY keyboard for American English). Follow these procedures if you wish to preserve your Windows language but use a different keyboard automatically: Swipe in from the right side of the screen to open Control Panel, then touch Search (or, if you’re using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, dragging the mouse pointer down, and then selecting Search), type Control Panel in the search box, then tap or click Control Panel. In the search box, type Add a language and then tap or click Add a language. Advanced options can be accessed by tapping or clicking on them. Choose the keyboard layout or input method you’d want to be your new default under Override for the default input method, and then touch or click Save.
