In Final Fantasy XVI, players take control of Clive Rosfield, a young man, out for revenge, after his family is destroyed by a tragedy involving powerful mythical summons known as Eikons. On 8th December, at The Game Awards 2022, a new trailer titled “Revenge” was unveiled, which you can watch down below.

The latest trailer is mostly about the game’s story and its themes of revenge. These ideas are both metaphorical and literal; the protagonist is driven by his desire for revenge, and his thirst for revenge literally transforms him into Ifrit. But this is only a small part of what the trailer is about. Most of the time, the game’s main character fights a wide range of enemies, slicing and dicing them to pieces with sword attacks and combos that fit with the game’s focus on action. There are also more magic and supernatural powers on display than anyone could hope to see in such a small teaser. FFXVI has been in development for a long time, but it is the first mainstream game in the series since 2016‘s Final Fantasy XV. It was originally scheduled to release in September 2020, but Square Enix announced in December 2021 that it had been delayed by half a year due to the pandemic. Later, when asked about the delays in the release, the developers said they were facing a “mountain of challenges.” Final Fantasy 16 can now be pre-ordered digitally on the PlayStation Store and physically at many retailers. Both the Standard and Digital Deluxe versions are available for purchase. The game will cost $70 for the Standard Edition, $80 for the Digital Deluxe Edition, and $99 for the physical Deluxe Edition. If you purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition, you’ll gain access to the game’s digital art book, soundtrack, and a few bonus items. The physical Deluxe Edition of Final Fantasy 16 includes a steel case and a cloth map of the game. In addition, a picture of the Collector’s Edition was also tweeted by Square Enix, along with the news that pre-orders would open on December 12. The sales begin at 6:00 PM PST/9:00 PM EST/6:00 GMT/7:00 PM CET in North America and Europe, respectively. There won’t be a lot of the Collector’s Edition available, so it is important that you order on time.
