Google confirmed to 9to5Google that the Chromecast (third generation) is officially being dismissed with the release of the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) today. The item will be purchased until all the remaining stock is gone. The Chromecast with Google TV (HD) has the same functionality, including casting entertainment from a smartphone, using it in Speaker Groups, and more, and it costs the same $29.99. However, the Google TV-powered gadget also features an Android operating system that enables app installation, and it uses a remote rather than merely a smartphone for controls. There is no set timetable for when the Chromecast will get upgrades, although it is safe to assume that it won’t be long. Nearly ten years later, the original Chromecast from 2013 is still receiving bug fix updates. Since the present model has just been available for around four years, we may anticipate at least a few more years of improvements. A Google representative outlines: Source: 9to5Google
