Persona topped the charts on many Game of the Year lists and just like Persona 4, the game got its very own ultimate edition with added bonus content in the form of Persona 5 Royal. The game introduced a new party member called Kasumi, a new explorable district by the name of Kichijoji commercial along with new weapons, additional endings, and new items among many other additions.
Persona 5 Royal Remastered getting a full price tag
But now, things are getting a bit pricy as players of the original game cannot upgrade editions for the PS5, that is not without shelling out the full retail price of $60 for a bit more Persona 5 content. The updated version of the PS5 game will be scheduled for release in October and it seems pretty obvious that Sony and ALTUS are headed down the same path. Persona fans are die-hard fans. So players that will pay for the Persona 5 Remastered edition and have played the game since the time of the PS3 will have paid full price a total of four times with each new release. And that’s roughly around 250 dollars. Considering the fact that fans have yet to see any Persona 5 Royal Remastered gameplay, it’s pretty unclear to know whether the game will be worth paying the full price again. Persona 5 launched as a PlayStation-exclusive title and it’s pretty disappointing to realize that Sony won’t be offering fans any discounted upgrades to the Remastered Edition. Microsoft on the other hand has handled this scenario perfectly. It partially dominates the cross-generational market with Xbox’s Smart Delivery system that offers free upgrades for any Xbox One title that gamers own. There have been many complaints in regards to Sony charging full price for games in addition to the jump in prices through the eighth and ninth generations. Sony initially charged 60 dollars for video games but expect a 70-dollar price tag on recent PS5 titles. The Last of Us fans were also pretty disappointed when they found out that they had to pay 70 dollars for the Last of Us Part 1 Remake. In addition, games like Life is Strange Remastered also failed to deliver an upgrade. But on the plus side, games like Death Stranding Director’s Cut and Ghost of Tsushima offered fans a static price to upgrade from last gen while many other titles received free upgrades. This frustrating, unreliable, and cash-grabby tactics of dealing with cross-generational gaming have put Sony at odds with many fans who just want to enjoy their favorite games on a new platform. It’s also likely that these decisions were made to prevent players from abusing the upgrade system by purchasing last-gen copies to get free or discounted upgrades for the PS5 version. To be fair, this limits players’ enjoyment across the board and severely mitigates the PlayStation 5’s already limited library of updated games in favor of a small profit. And Persona fans are contemplating whether to buy Persona 5 Royal Remastered or not At this moment in time, Persona 5 Royal is exclusive to the PS4 with the Remastered version well on its way to the PS5. In addition, Persona 5 Royal is currently being developed for other platforms such as the Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and the Nintendo Switch.
